2000 Cobalt 227
Immaculate fresh water boat. 7.4L
315HP Volvo Penta Duo Prop. Engine has
422 hours. Captain’s call through hull
exhaust, hydraulic trim tabs, dual
batteries, on board 2 bank battery
charger. Lined with gray snap in carpet,
the cockpit is configured as an L lounge
with fill in seat for added seating, sun
pad cushions, a built in insulated cooler
and plenty of concealed storage.
The helm boasts tilt steering with a
woodgrain finish and is equipped with
remote controls for a depth gauge. Cobalt
flip-lip Captain’s chair and First Mate’s
chair are a nice addition for a secure
perch above the windshield. Below deck is
a spacious buddy cabin with overhead
window for natural lighting and fresh
air, 2 adjacent luxury lounge chairs with
hidden porta-potty in between, extra
storage compartments, accent and task
lighting and an Alpine bluetooth/radio/CD
player. This boat is equipped with
docking lights. Stainless steel rub rail.
Stainless steel boarding ladder. Bimini
top with Cobalt cover. Snap in color
matched cockpit cover. Whole boat storage
cover. Like new 2012 Rolco tandem axel
trailer custom made for Cobalt. Surge
breaks. Retractable stern tie
downs.
With vigorous power options (up to 415
horses) and classic Cobalt handling, the
227 will cruise all day on big water.
Fully efficient in the use of space, the
227 performs in the manner of boats far
bigger. Amenities cluster in pockets of
activity and comfort, most of all in the
cuddy cabin with its Cobalt-exclusive
sliding door. Leather is the fabric of
choice in the cabin: seats and headliner
are supple and elegant. The indirect
lighting softens any mood, while a deck
hatch with screen admits just the right
amount of natural light. A cabin galley
is optional, with alcohol stove and sink.
Optional pump-out Porta-Potti or
Porta-Potti with macerator complements
the standard unit, identical to the
spacious heads of larger Cobalts. A
carbon-monoxide detector comes standard
on all Cobalt cuddies, and on the 227 a
switch panel controls both cabin lighting
and water pressure for the optional
galley. Thick curtains with velcro
closures ensure privacy. The cockpit is
large and accessible with an L-lounge
configuration, including a handy ice
chest. The carpet is easily removable for
cleaning. A storage compartment is
located by the walk-through transom, and
a wet locker or second ice chest is
located on the swim platform. A concealed
ladder (portside) brings swimmers safely
out of the water. With everyone aboard,
an optional drop-in cushion extends the
lounge across the walk-through for more
seating. The helm station has a tilt
leather steering wheel, and all
electronics are tucked safely away in the
glovebox with a full remote control at
the helm. Optional packages have
subwoofers, CD players, and full remote
stereo control just above the waterline
for swimmers. The captain's chairs are
flip-lip designed and with one movement
convert a conventional chair to a solid,
comfortable perch above the windshield.
The 227 carries on long-standing Cobalt
benchmarks for quality fiberglass
construction: Kevlar reinforcement
throughout the hand-laid hull, a
composite transom to go with wood-free
motor mounts and stringers in an
integrally reinforced system that gives
the Cobalt 227 an unbeatable combination
of strength, performance, and resistance
to corrosion. Altogether, the hull
involves seven distinct layers of
1.5-ounce glass mat, and 24-ounce woven
roving in a signature Cobalt process
called Hydrolam. The result: superb
consistency and structural integrity that
no other method of construction can
match. As with all boats bearing the
Cobalt logo, aluminum backing plates for
all hardware are embedded in the
fiberglass, and stainless braces solidify
the windshield. There's more: a Kevlar -
E-glass hybrid applied over the entire
length of the keel, and chines for impact
resistance ten times greater than
conventional fiberglass at less than half
the weight. AME 1000 vinylester resins in
the hull deck create superior strength
and tensile elongation, resisting
chemicals and water. The Cobalt warranty
(ten years on the hull and deck, five
years on the power train) guarantees the
227's performance.
