1986 Sea Ox 230 C WA Cuddy
SEA OX - The name says it all.
This commercial grade fishing boat is
BUILT LIKE A BEAST! The amount of
fiberglass and the hd hardware are
impressive. The 230 is a walkaround
cuddy. The v berth cushions are navy
blue. There is a cabin hatch and the
windows have screens. The cabin is lined
with teak trim. There are no water or
mildew problems in the enclosed
cabin.
Starting from the bow there is a very
nice hd pulpit with anchor. The hd bow
rails are in excellent shape and provide
safety when walking around the cuddy
cabin. The helm includes a compass, trim
tabs, ss destroyer wheel and hydraulic
steering. The windshield is in good shape
with no cracks or hardware concerns.
There are two captains chairs in very
good condition. One being the helm chair
and the other the companion
chair.
Immediately aft, one will find two
livewells as part of the steps going into
the large cockpit. The layout is really
functional. There are two hd captains
chairs mounted in the cockpit that are
removable. One of the chairs has a
pivoting gimbel receiver for fighting the
big ones! Again, the hd hardware is
impressive. Hawsehole plates receive
lines through the gunwale to the very
large cleats that are out of the way. No
trip hazards here. There are six ss
rodholders with two on each side of the
cockpit and two mounted in the full
transom stern area. There are lots of
lids and storage areas throughout this
boat. All are in good working order and
do not require repair.
There are two bimini tops. One bimini
is for the helm area. There are two clear
connectors - one for the port and
starboard side that are very useable. The
forward clear connector is damaged and
would require that the clear plastic be
sown in. The second bimini can be used as
a sunshade over the cockpit. Both bimini
awnings are fine but the aft bimini
fabric would be better suited as a
pattern if you ever decide to use this
bimini.
The transom has a small platform with
retracting ladder for entry into the
boat.
There is a galvanized, custom, tandem
trailer underneath the SeaOx. It appears
to be in very good condition. Note that
it is custom fit. Many time buying a used
boat includes a ragged, poorly fit
trailer that will be costly to repair.
There is a galvanized rim spare, as well.
It trailers well.
This 230 C has the much desired full
transom. There is an OMC SeaDrive mounted
to the transom. I have never run this
engine. If you are mechanically inclined
you may want to try to get it running
after years of non use. Otherwise, one
could find a transom bracket on the
internet. Used brackets gererally bring
about $500 to $1,000. Next, there a lot
of 25" late model 2 strokes on the
market. I am aware of a 25" Yamaha 150 4
stroke in TN at a dealership. They are
asking between $4,000 to $5,000 for this
2008 freshwater engine.
So here is the scoop, I saw this heavy
duty saltwater rig being stored for years
under a shed at a middle TN tractor
dealership. The tractor dealership moved
locations and I bought the boat out of
respect for the quality nature of the
product. A new equivalent would be over
$80,000 but could not catch any more
fish! There is a 1995 registration decal
on the caprail. This may have been the
last time it was registered.....Please
call with any questions.
