(BOAT IS UNDER CONTRACT)
We have to say good bye to Rocksteady,
our beloved hybrid fishing/power cruiser
boat, after 4 years of flounder fishing
in and around Great Egg Harbor Bay.
This was our first boat. We bought her
not knowing if we would be "cruisers" or
"fishermen". This boat offered us both at
a very reasonable entry price. Turns out,
we went fishing 4 days a week, and never
spent the night onboard in nearby
Atlantic City OR Cape May. We just wanted
to stay close to home. But this boat does
offer you both options.
Sea Ray is known for its fit and
finish. The Amberjack is in good shape,
and well built. With two Mercury
Mercruiser 5.0 Litre EFI's, 3 Interstate
Marine batteries, cranking out 1000 amps
each, it runs very solidly.
She has been well maintained by the
good folks next door at Marine Max Somers
Point. I have all the records ready to go
and ready to show. (Fiberglass hull, gas
powered, Twin Inboard/outboard, and 505
hours on the engines)
She is 29 feet long, plus 2 more with
the swim platform (complete with swim
stairs), and a cool radar arch which
holds 4 "rocket launchers" (fancy for
overhead rod holders). They are
invaluable. (4 more rod holders in the
cockpit area). Trim tabs mounted for
efficient leveling while under way.
She has a dual sink in the cockpit,
along with a huge storage box in the
transom, and a spotlight and
anchor/windlass at the bow. (The windlass
is not working. We never needed it, so
never fixed it. I lowered the price
accordingly)
I never updated the electronics, so
they are most likely the originals. They
work, but are ancient. We did not seem to
care. What we did buy (brand new) was a
custom canvas package. It’s big, blue,
beautiful and you’ll think it’s cool. The
roof, and front and side windows close in
the cockpit, which is HUGE for the wind
factor when under way. The back half zips
on when not it use for protection against
rain, dirt, leaves, etc. (don't buy a
boat without front and side windows
connecting to canvas roof. You need the
protection!)
Downstairs is a huge cabin, which we
simply did not take advantage of. Big
bed, dinette area, sink, microwave, mini
fridge, stove, bathroom(head), storage,
and even a secondary sleeping area that
would realistically be for a small junior
fisherman. The cabin has air conditioning
and it works perfectly.
I'll throw in all the stuff we won't
be taking with us: Boat poles, fishing
net, first aid kit, fire extinguishers,
life vests, our portable marine radio and
charger, iPod/iPhone-to-cassette adaptor,
fenders, 30 amp shore power connector,
and anything else I can think of to get
you started.
We priced this vessel to appeal to the
folks who feel this type of boat will fit
their boating plans….That is, the price
is right for such a versatile boat. We
are not negotiators, so rather than
bicker back and forth, we decided to
price this attractively so that
Rocksteady would find its next owners in
time to enjoy 2020 southern New
Jersey-style, on the water. It's a good
boat, runs well, and flounder season
opens in May!
I’m not a pro photographer, but you
will get a good sense of this vessel with
these photos. And I hope you’ll meet me
in Mays Landing to check it out over the
winter!
