1978 CSY 44 W/O
Beautifully upgraded and maintained
classic cruiser. We have owned and
cruised this girl for 25 years now, and
frankly, we can’t find anything close to
her quality in newer production boats. A
little research into CSY will give you
all you need to know about what a safe,
more than capable world cruiser these
boats are. The 400 gallons of water
tankage gives us (a couple) a month’s
worth of water without conservation.
She’s been modernized and upgraded over
the years, but she is still a bullet
proof (see original CSY brochures) brick
$#@*-house that sails beautifully. You
have a cutter rig 3 sail combination, and
the main has 3 reef points. We’ve never
been past the 1st reef, because at close
to 40k pounds, she delivers the blow to
waves, not the other way around. We
repowered her a few years ago with a
Yanmar 75 turbo that has been incredible.
She cruises at 7.8 knts, tops out at 8.5,
but sips fuel. Upgrades include a
stainless custom stern arch and davits
that hold 300 watts of solar, foruno 24
mile radome, GPS antenna, 2 rod holders.
The separated aft cabin king size berth,
ensuite head and shower, nav station,
gives owners great privacy from
friends/family/charter guests in main
cabin. We also put a cockpit insert that
turns into an incredible double bunk
under the stars for those beautiful warm
nights. The cockpit of the CSY is
unbeatable for comfort and entertaining
for up to 10 people. We designed a large
weblon dodger that offers incredible
protection from wind and spray, and have
rode out a couple of gales underneath her
with no sign of the outside conditions in
the cockpit. There is a zip in extension
from dodger to the boom gallows if yo
want to totally cover cockpit, and a full
sunbrella sun canopy from the mast back
to stern end of boom, that keeps things
cool in the tropics. 7 opening deck
hatches, and bronze opening portholes all
around give more than ample ventilation
throughout the boat.
