1961 Custom Greig Class Romsdal
THIS NORWEGIAN DdESIGNED and built
North Sea Classic Trawler Yacht with
heavy scantlings designed and built to
Norwegian ship building standards, North
Sea conditions, is reluctently being sold
due to advanced age and health issues.
She is capable of crossing oceans
with a range of 3,000 miles and has the
systems on board for extensive
cruising to remoote areas.
the vessel under went a major refit in
1999-2000. The engine room
completely gutted and redone concrete
ballast removed, 37' of keelson replaced,
18 keel bolts, fuel tanks removed, bilge
cleaned and new ballast installed. New
engine beds installed, a heavy duty
engine oil containment pan fabricated to
collect any future oil spills. A new slow
turning diesel, transmission shaft,
propeller, cutlass bearing , packing
gland, rudder and power assited hydraulic
steering. Electrical systems including
wiring and circuit breaker panel for 12v,
120v and 240v circuits. Fresh water
plumbing replaced with new plastic piping
and manifolds for routing hot and cold
water circuits. Wing fuel tanks opened
cleaned and weak areas rewelded. New 900
fallon fuel tank fabricated and installed
under sole of master cabin. All fuel
lines replaced with ABYC compliant
lines.
The vessel does have deficiencies.
There is fungi rot in various
location in the bulwark planking cap
rails and posts as well as the stem.
Winches on the mizzen mast need to be
replaced. Vessel needs painitng on
exterior. The original paint needs to be
striped from the aluminum structure on
out board side. I hve stripprd the inside
where I could reach and repainted. There
is minor minor carpentry on inside in the
pilot house to be completed
Engine and mechanicals have had light
duty and have been regularly service. The
majority of the hours were accumulated
doing long runs at 1400 RPM with minimun
shifting of transmission. Manuvering
speed is normally at idel speed
